Metanoia
Metanoia, the process of experiencing a psychotic "breakdown" and subsequent, positive psychological re-building or "healing." Derived from Ancient Greek words μετά (metá) (meaning "beyond" or "after") and νόος (noeō) (meaning "perception" or "understanding" or "mind").
Beyond perception. After understanding.
Metanoia is a set of three cyanotypes of poetry written at a time of personal upheaval, printed on 4' x 5' drop cloth, a material designed to soak up spills when painting. The prints are paired with smaller images as context, inverting the usual image-caption relationship, orienting primary focus towards the subjective written experience over the visual.
